Sandy
Last week Sandy paid a visit to Haiti. Communications from Haiti affected somewhat in Dariol area, but
my last communication says that there was a lot of damage to crops, fruit trees lost the fruit, many banana trees knocked
down.
Even in just ordinary rainy times the dirt roads can sustain enough damage to block transport for a time.
Wherever water runs down off the mountains and cross the roads there can be a lot of damage.
Nine people died in
Haiti at last report, none from my area. After 4 days of rain, sunny skies are now seen again. Hunger once again
a danger in a nation always teetering on the edge of need.

Update
School started in Haiti at the beginning of October. The kids are preparing letters to their sponsors
and getting their yearly pictures taken. All this takes time, so Sponsors, please be patient.
The lack of
hurricane activity has actually hurt the farmers because there has been a lack of rain for their crops. The spring crop
wasn't good and the summer not much better. Hunger could be a factor soon. Please pray for these poor, hardworking
people in these times of strange weather activity.
This is Reformation month when pastors are bringing up the importance
of Martin Luther's attempt to move the Catholic Church back to the original doctrine of Grace over the emphasis on works.
Do some research on your own.
Haitians don't celebrate Halloween as is done in the States. The Catholic Church
sets aside the 1 and 2 of November as days of the Dead. During this time Voodou has a lot of activity in cemeteries
and services to try to placate the dead and gain their help in what they want to do.
Please pray for the advancement
of the Gospel in Haiti. Islam is creeping in from muslims in the USA. Help us to continue to reach out to
the Haitian people with the good news of Jesus Christ.

Being a disciple...
On Wednesday morning I spoke about being a true disciple of Jesus and what that meant. Read Mark 8:34-35.
It's not so easy as you might think. Carrying your cross means being willing to suffer pain, shame and persecution for
Jesus' sake. Some people are willing to do this up to a point...how far are you willing to go?
Jesus also
talked about denying one's self. This is totally opposed to what "the world" and society advocate. They
say you should look out for number one, grab all the gusto in life that you can and that you should put yourself first.
Jesus said "what is the value of gaining the whole world...if you lose your soul in the process?"
We must get our priorities straight. There is so much deception and false doctrine out there, you must be careful and
stick to what the Bible says.
Jesus is coming back for his church soon...make sure that you are ready when the
call comes!
